- Overview of the Program
This Collaborative Program (CP) integrates the advanced research facilities and expertise in environmental sciences of Hokkaido University with Universitas Gadjah Mada’s core strength in materials development through the effective utilization of Indonesia’s abundant natural resources (including biomass and mineral resources). The program aims to promote high-impact, international research on the development of high-functional materials and their sustainable applications to solve global environmental issues.

Doctoral Course (Ph.D. Students).
- Eligibility
- Registered as an active student in the Doctoral Program in Chemistry, FMIPA UGM.
- Highly recommended to have a good command of English, proven by a valid proficiency certificate (TOEFL/IELTS/AcEPT UGM) for smooth academic and research communication.
- Pass the internal selection process by the Doctoral Program in Chemistry, FMIPA UGM.
- Schedule
Participants will travel in the first or second year of their doctoral program and stay at the Graduate School of Environmental Science, Hokkaido University for approximately one year to conduct their laboratory research and data collection.
- Acquirable Degree
The degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemistry from Universitas Gadjah Mada, alongside the corresponding Ph.D. degree from Hokkaido University based on the student’s specific research division.
- Cost
- Tuition Fee (UKT): Students pay the regular tuition fee only to their home university (UGM) during the program; tuition fee at the host university (Hokkaido University) is waived.
- Living & Travel Expenses: Living costs, accommodation, health insurance, and travel expenses between Indonesia and Japan are the responsibility of the student (or covered by relevant external scholarships/grants).
